Large Energy Construction Projects

Lead contracts attorney in energy utility projects for development and construction of:

• Electric and Steam Cogeneration Plant, developed through a public/private sector partnership.
• Wisconsin portion of Interstate Gas Transmission Line.
• Corporate headquarters designed to achieve LEED Gold green building certification.
• Natural Gas Peaking Plant built on a site leased from another electric utility.
• Replacement of Steam Turbine Generator at a University-owned Power Plant.
• Backup Generation Project involving electric utility, city-owned convention center and financing lender.

Renewable Energy & Energy Efficiency

• Represented electric utility in successful efforts to obtain local land use approvals in two Wisconsin communities and negotiate contracts for the construction of what was then the second largest Wind Power Development Project east of the Mississippi River.
• Developed agreements implementing the following programs:
  • Solar Power Generation Program.
  • Alternative Fuels Program to utilize refuse-derived fuel, biomass and other alternative fuels.
  • Landfill Gas Generation Program.
  • Energy efficient equipment and loan programs.
• Serves as legal counsel to several startup and mature companies involved in promoting renewable energy and energy efficiency through development of biofuels and other renewable energy resources, green building, fuel saving/emissions reduction technology and administration of green energy project loans and grant programs.

Telecommunications

• Represented municipal utility in its successful effort to become one of the first two such utilities in Wisconsin to be certified as a Competitive Local Exchange Carrier and Alternative Telecommunications Utility.
• Negotiated and drafted of contracts to establish municipal utility's High speed internet service program
